Workshop/Course Description:
The Trilingual Interpreter: Advocacy & Interpreting Practice is the third workshop in a comprehensive three-part series designed to provide language and forward-thinking frameworks for multilingual interpreting work. This session moves from reflection into application, challenging participants to examine interpreting assignments through a social justice lens and apply practical frameworks to complex professional scenarios. Participants will explore abundance-based and deficit-based thinking in assignment preparation, apply the Role-Space Model to align client needs, settings, and goals, and strengthen collaborative decision-making within interpreting teams. Through advocacy-focused discussion and interactive interpreting practice, participants will identify their unique strengths, develop strategies for effectively advocating with teams, clients, and agencies, and integrate concepts from the series into real-time interpreting practice.
